Religion Vs Spirituality

Has materialism allowed us to stay Religious while robbing us of our Spirituality? It is customary today for religious organizations and people to refer to themselves as religious. In reality, they use the terms faith and spirituality interchangeably. While attempting not to disparage anyone’s beliefs, a better understanding of spirituality can only assist us in our spiritual understanding.

In the beginning, religion was a tool to be utilised in spiritual development. In the procedure of creating a completely materialistic paradigm for what’s real, religion was removed from the realm of the metaphysical into the realm of the physical (material). The unfortunate consequence of this act was that religion was no longer utilized to achieve a spiritual connection to God. Religious worship was changed into an understanding based on psychological, intellectual, and physical senses. Salvation was found in a belief in a book, a construction, and finally in a former living being known as a savior.

The above dictionary definitions should describe for us that there’s a difference between faith and spirituality. The most important distinction is that religion is totally outside, although spirituality is completely internal. What stands out is that the religious person is a”believer”, although the spiritual person is at least attempting to become a”knower”. What’s nabeel qureshi debate ? The believer’s ideas and attitudes are formed by outside stimulation; while the knower goes through an internal procedure of understanding truth. The believer can not deal with abstract concepts, he/she can’t get pass the labels and/or definitions of a thing.

The knower attempts to experience the reality of something, thereby being aware of it. We are all souls or souls residing in a physical body. However, as long as one’s consciousness is in control, the soul is only an neglected part of our body. Provided that we are absorbed by the substance, as long as people are continuously trying to meet the nonstop request of their physical, nothing spiritual will happen in our lives. Irrespective of how far dogma or church you has, unless one learns to go within, the spiritual part of one’s being will remain dormant.

There is an old African Proverb that says:“All knowledge begins and ends with self knowledge. Failure to comprehend that this proverb has helped to produce the battle of Religion versus Spirituality.
